Murco Petroleum Ltd in Milford Haven, have just received its final consignment of Mazda BT-50's. Since November 2007, Murco Petroleum, a subsidiary of the USA-based Murphy Oil Corporation, has been undertaking a phased renewal of pick-ups on its 60-strong fleet.
The latest additions complete the renewal programme and means that a total of 27 Mazda BT-50 4x2 Single Cabs and Double Cab 4x4 TS's have joined the company’s current fleet. The fleet of BT-50's are typically used to carry people, tools and equipment around the Milford Haven refinery site and out to the waterside jetty.
All the vehicles, which are powered by 2.5-litre 143ps diesel engines, are on 120,000-mile/five-year lease agreements with Arval, a major car leasing and fleet management company. Some BT-50s are additionally equipped with options that include Truckman tops, load-liners and towbars.
Rob Staples, Murco Petroleum’s rotating equipment superintendent who is in charge of the fleet, comments: “The pick-ups may only make short journeys around the refinery site, but they are in use round-the-clock so have to be strong and reliable and a real workhorse. That is why we choose Mazda’s BT-50s.”
